Not always. Many agencies start with simple digitals (natural, unedited photos). That said, a strong portfolio gives you a huge advantage. It shows range, professionalism, and helps agencies and clients picture you working. If you’re serious about modeling, having both clean digitals and a few polished images is the best approach.

A solid starter portfolio includes a mix of clean, simple looks and more styled images. Think headshots, 3/4, and full body, plus a few different expressions or vibes. Agencies want to see your natural look first, then your versatility. The goal is variety without overcomplicating it.

How many looks or outfits should I bring to my shoot?

Accepted Answer

For most sessions, 3–6 outfits is a great range. You want enough variety to show different sides of you, but not so many that you rush through them. Simple, well-fitting clothing in neutral tones usually works best, especially for agency-friendly images.

Do I need to know how to pose before my session?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Most people I work with have little or no experience. I’ll guide you through posing, expression, and small adjustments so you look natural and confident. My job is to make sure you don’t feel awkward and actually enjoy the process.

Will you help me choose the right style or direction for my portfolio?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Before your session, we’ll talk through your goals, the types of agencies you’re targeting, and the look you want to achieve. From there, we can plan outfits, backgrounds, and overall direction so your images feel intentional and aligned with the industry.

What’s the difference between digitals (polaroids) and portfolio images?

Accepted Answer

Digitals are simple, natural photos with minimal styling and no heavy retouching. They’re used by agencies to see your true look. Portfolio images are more polished and styled, showing your range and potential. You’ll likely need both as you grow.

Can I use these photos to apply to agencies or casting calls?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All images you receive are suitable for submitting to agencies, castings, and online profiles. The mix of clean and polished images gives you flexibility depending on what each opportunity requires.

Should I book a makeup artist for my shoot?

It depends on your goals. For clean, agency-style images, natural makeup (or none at all) is often best. For more polished or portfolio-building sessions, a makeup artist can elevate your look. Higher-level packages include this to keep things simple and consistent. I can book one for you if you don't know who to use.

How many final images will I receive and how are they edited?

Each package includes a set number of images, with a mix of colour-corrected and fully retouched photos. Colour correction keeps images clean and true to life, while retouching is reserved for your strongest selects. The goal is natural, professional results that still look like you.

I’ve never modelled before… is this still right for me?

Absolutely. Most people starting out have zero experience. Guiding you through poses and expressions is part of my job. This process is designed to help you build confidence, understand how you look on camera, and walk away with images you can actually use. Everyone starts somewhere.
